Catalyst Community Developments Society is a not-for-profit real estate developer/owner/operator with approximately 650 units of affordable rental home and 75,000 sq. ft. of community-serving space currently in various stages of development across BC. We are a group of smart, hard-working, dedicated people that enjoy what we do, and believe strongly in our mission. We currently have eight projects in active development, with an approximate value of $258m, with another four projects anticipated to ramp up over the next six months. By the end of this year we will be owner (or part owner) of 150 new below market rental homes, growing to approximately 580 in the next two years.
Taylor Ryan is pleased to be partnering with Catalyst in their search for a President to join the team. The President provides the leadership, vision, and guidance necessary to ensure Catalyst’s ability to deliver on its mission. They facilitate and support senior management and the Board in ways that allow them to efficiently and effectively pursue their respective mandates.
This role focuses on the overall health and goals of Catalyst with a particular focus on developing and managing not-for-profit real estate projects; on building strategic partnerships, influencing and developing relevant public policy and regulations, capacity-building within the non-profit development sector and strengthening and sharing the Catalyst model. The President has the full set of responsibilities and accountabilities normally given to such a position.
Reporting to the Board, our ideal candidate will be a kind, strategic, and thoughtful leader of people. Your work will be informed by your real estate development experience but not governed by it. You will be driven to seek out strategic, pragmatic, and innovative approaches to managing the organization and its teams so that they can thrive. You are someone who prefers to refine rather than reinvent and who appreciates the value of a well-run and stable organization.
The candidate will demonstrate experience and understanding of the full real estate development process with a focus on equity and financing. Construction experience/knowledge is desirable. A minimum of ten years direct experience leading, managing, and developing strong and effective teams with multiple and varying deliverables is essential. A Bachelor’s degree and/or a professional designation (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) is required.
