As the parent company of Ecowaste Industries, a long-standing leader in the solid waste management field, Montrose and Ecowaste have employed an innovative approach to land reclamation and development. Montrose recently began construction of the Richmond Industrial Centre project, a massive industrial development of over 2.8M square feet of build-to-suit industrial buildings in a master-planned, 170-acre business park. Projected to be the largest industrial campus in the region, the Richmond Industrial Centre will add much-needed relief to the regions critical industrial space shortage.
As development of the Richmond Industrial Centre (RIC) progresses, Ecowaste Industries is seeking a talented, General Manager of Real Estate Development to join their team and lead the successful development of the project. Reporting to the CEO, the GM will create and implement the strategic plan for the Richmond Industrial Centre development in addition to other existing or new sites. A key part of the role will be to oversee and manage development consultants and construction partners, marketing teams and brokerage activities. The GM will act as asset manager of the RIC land and buildings and will oversee the property management team. With project capital and P&L responsibility, the GM will drive the financial results for the business. With clear external visibility as representing the owner, the incumbent will foster and manage external stakeholder relationships. In addition to developing a masterplan for all landholdings, including the existing site and those not currently in productive use, the GM will participate in identifying future land development opportunities both locally and further afield.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in land use planning and development and a successful track record in leading the full development cycle for large-scale industrial projects. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with government and community relations experience is required. The ideal candidate has a business management background and a strong financial acumen with previous P&L experience. A high level of attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple competing priorities is a must. This requires someone that is patient, with a track record of seeing projects through a medium to long-term life cycle.
