Accounting + Finance
Each Practice area at Taylor Ryan is focused and specialized in either a technical specialty or an industry segment. Within the Accounting and Finance division, we combine this approach. This means a depth of knowledge around both accounting and finance positions, and specific knowledge of the industries in which these roles exist.
For CFO, VP and Director levels we offer retained recruitment services (see services) and from Controller down through Manager and Senior Accountant we work on an exclusive contingency basis.
CFO roles vary from public to private company and can often focus on different skill sets from capital markets; M&A; compliance & governance through operations and
Project / Change Management
Organizations constantly strive for efficiency and competitive advantage through technology. This requires upgrading or implementation of ERP or other accounting software tools. These roles often require a combined accounting and technology skill set.
Depending on the organization can be focused on debt or equity – lines of credit, loans, mortgages and mezzanine financing and candidates often transition from banking / lending environments or other corporate finance roles. MBA/CFA are common designations vs accounting but CA/CMA can be equally as common.
Roles vary depending on scope and may focus on Canadian, US, cross border or international tax compliance and/or planning. Typically, CA plus In-depth tax designations.
May overlap with Finance but also focuses on cash management, foreign currency and derivative contracts.
Catering to each individual client, these roles typically require strong technical skills, including external reporting and consolidations, knowledge of multi-entity environments and MD&A in public settings. Strong IFRS knowledge and usually CA or CGA (CPA) designations.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Often referred to as management reporting and focuses on forward looking information such as cashflows, budgets, cost or revenue forecasts and decision making information. Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and communication skills are key. Sometimes more suited to CMA/MBA/CFA skill sets.
Specific to real estate development or construction environments and tends to require an analytical skill set with a focus on cost reporting. In some cases this requires a more technical modelling skill set for pro forma development.
Specific to the real estate industry, roles focus on reporting for property portfolios and require an understanding of lease agreements and CAM rec’s in particular.
Architecture + Design
Within Architecture + Design at Taylor | Ryan we work with both local and global architecture practices and design firms on roles at all levels.
Working with local and global architecture practices and design firms, we understand and can add value to the full spectrum of hard to fill roles from Architectural Technologists, Interior Designers, BIM Managers, Senior & Project Architects, Sector Lead and Principal Architects. Working with Engineering firms, contractors and owners of large scale industrial projects across mining, industrials and oil and gas sectors. Commonly in remote locations. Examples include Colorado, Utah, Ontario, BC, Alberta.
Heavy Civil Construction
Taylor Ryan has experience recruiting for large scale contractors across North America from the Eastern Seaboard, to the West Coast. Searches focus on senior roles such as Director Business Development, VP Operations, Senior Project Managers, and are conducted on a retained basis.

In addition, we cover Project/Development Accounting, Property Accounting and Corporate Accounting positions from mid-level through Manager, Controller, Director and Vice President of Accounting & Finance. This also includes Analyst roles supporting Acquisitions, Development or Asset Management.
